Hummingbird: tireless joy and the nectar of life.
I think this is valuable to be mindful of no matter what your totem animal is. That being said, we do have more than one totem animal. Like other types of guides, they come and go. Some are with us from birth to death, others pop in to help with a specific challenge or path we choose, others still will walk at our sides for a period of time to guide us, and then there are the shadow totems: perhaps the most potent, these creatures are the ones we may fear or loathe: they will reveal our fears, insecurities, anxieties. But if we can embrace them and what they teach, we integrate our own shadow and that's where our real power lies. What's your power animal? Comment below! Turquoise... a very spiritualizing stone with a long history next to humankind. It has perhaps been with humans longer than any other gemstone. It crystallizes in masses, stalactites, veins, crusts, and rarely, short, small and brilliantly colored prismatic crystals. (1) It has a hardness on the Mohs scale of 5-7. The name turquoise originates from the 16th century Old French word for "Turkish" because the stone was first brought to Europe from Turkey. For thousands for years turquoise has been prized by cultures across the globe, from North America to Egypt to Tibet. It is considered a sacred stone by Tibetan shamans and Native Americans and both these peoples also understood it to have protective properties. It primarily stimulates the throat chakra, however it is capable of aligning all chakras, meridians and subtle bodies. Turquoise is an excellent choice to use and/or wear during any and all spiritual work. It can attune one to the spiritual plane while assisting with grounding simultaneously. It is a healer of the spirit and can bring peace of mind. Another use for turquoise which I was previously unaware is that of promoting spontaneity in romance and to stimulate the initiation of romantic love along with attuning you to your lover, even telepathically... le sigh :). (1) On that note, I'll wrap up this post and wish you the best on your own explorations with stones. Take some time to work with turquoise; it's pretty amazing. Next month: labradorite 💖
