Why? because you aren’t able to see the connection between your pattern of choice (or unconscious choices), and the consequences of those choices. Before you have an understanding of how you’re making things happen and attracting circumstances, it can feel like you’re being punished by some mysterious higher power, or like your mother-in-law, ex husband/wife, or grown child is causing your problems, or events in your life are completely random and have no root cause and no meaning. That sucks!!
However, when you see yourself as the powerful divine creator you actually are, things begin to shift: 1. your relationship with your spirit guide team opens and grows 2. you know your soul-level gifts (and challenges) and can begin using those gifts 3. you see the consequences- positive and negative- of choices made And, knowing yourself at this profound level enhances your self-love, because you see yourself in a whole new way: as the divine being you actually ARE. If you’re ready to open to and see your divinity, go here to learn all the juicy details of what this amazing package includes. http://www.sarasmysticforest.com/akashic-empowerment-see-your-divinity.html Shine on, Sara ✨💖

If you're human, I'll wager you have, at some point in your life, had an experience that changed your outlook and/or worldview dramatically. I'm talking about the kind of experience that broadens your perspective and understanding on a profound level; the kind of experience that could even awaken you to your native status as- dare I say it?- creator. There is one experience in my life that has, more than a decade after it occurred, has become a point of reference for me. The catalyst was a meeting which, over the next ten years, percolated in my psyche and soul with new wisdom and personal truths. These sparks of understanding were released only as quickly as my conscious brain could accept and process them. The result (so far) for me has been a level of self-knowledge the depth of which I could not have attained had none of this occurred. So, when I learned that Jodi Chapman and Dan Teck were collecting stories for the newest of their best-selling 365 Series book, I knew I had to be involved. My contribution, "A Soul-Level Healing" is included in this edition, along with some incredible stories from over 250 other authors. On the same day it launched- February 21, 2017, 365 Life Shifts became an international best-seller on Amazon in over 8 categories! I'll share a tidbit from my own piece... A Soul-Level Healing Sara Martin Years ago I met a man who activated part of my soul story which had been previously dormant. The story was one of love, loss and guilt. We had shared a life together in a previous incarnation. In that life, he died and I was left alone. Consequently, I sequestered myself in my parents’ home, mourning my loss and feeling guilty for living off of their wealth. This person made a profound impression upon me in my current life. However, he left the picture... Get your copy here! If stories of magical, soul-stirring transformations light you up, I strongly recommend this book! I've been reading it myself and am continually awed by the experiences the authors are describing. You can order the book in my boutique here. ❤️✨Enjoy this gorgeous preview video for the book ✨❤️ Shine on, Sara If you’re an animal lover, you probably notice your favorite creatures when you see them in fashion and popular culture. And if you’re like me, you need to have that new phone case or t-shirt with your spirit animal on it! Here are some items I’ve seen recently: peacocks and the always beautiful peacock feather- often seen in jewelry, leggings, shirts, skirts, neckties, phone cases; owls and foxes on t-shirts and bags. There are so many others too. What I’d like to share in this post are a few animal likenesses which are particularly popular now, and how you can easily access and work with their energies. Our four-legged, no-legged, scaled and winged sisters and brothers are here to guide and assist us. For our purposes, let’s focus on three animals, which we all see quite often: the owl, fox and elephant. (We won't be covering little Hedgehog today, but feel free to explore Hedgie on your own). I’ll bet you have seen these creatures depicted quite frequently in fashion and other places. I have seen all these animals on shirts this year, for instance. Maybe you can name other animals you’ve seen. First, the Owl. The owl is surrounded by millennia of superstition and myth. Cultures around the world attributed numerous magical qualities with this bird. Primarily it is a feminine symbol, associated with the moon, nighttime, reincarnation and death. Fox is another feminine symbol. Traditionally associated with shape-shifting, dwelling in the in-between places, cleverness, problem-solving and wisdom. In some Native cultures they are seen as a Trickster. The third animal we’ll meet is Elephant. Most of us know that elephant society is matriarchal. The whole herd protects and cares for the young. The role of grandmothers is vital. Yet the elephant as a symbol is masculine, full of physical power and strength. Their long memories are endearing to us. All three of these beings are making themselves available to us now, which is why they’re appearing in popular fashion so often. So even if you have never worked with spirit animals or guides before, with a little patience and discernment, it’s possible to tap into the wisdom and apply it to your own life. This can be done with a simple meditation. First, set an intention. This is critical, because you are all-powerful and everything works off of your intention. Be very specific. The quality of the information you receive is dependent on the specificity of your question/intention. Do you need clarity on a current issue in your life? Do you need healing for something in your past? Are you coming up against a block or obstacle and need advice on how to clear it? Once you set your intention for the meditation, decide which of these animals you feel most drawn toward. It may not necessarily be the one you feel is a “favorite”, so approach this part with an open heart and set aside your ego. Then ground and center yourself. In a quiet space, sit comfortably and begin to breathe consciously and regularly, paying attention to the in and out of your respirations. This will quiet the “monkey mind”. Center your consciousness at your heart, state your intention, and ask the animal you’ve chosen if it has a message for you. It will tell you if it does. Then wait. While waiting quietly, do not focus your attention on anything. (It’s important to note here that the animal you asked may not have a message for you at this time. If this happens, you may want to try again in a few weeks, or you may ask one of the others if they have a message. Sometimes we misinterpret and that’s ok!) You may receive the message in images, physical sensations, emotions, or words in your head. It may be a combination of several of these. We are all intuitive, and we have different ways of receiving information. The important thing is to trust it and don’t second-guess the message, even if it sounds weird. Feel free to ask for clarification if it doesn’t make sense. When you feel the communication is complete, give thanks to the spirit animal and slowly bring your awareness back into the room. I recommend journaling your experience before you get up, while it’s fresh in your mind. You never know when you may need to refer to the information shared with you by your animal messenger. I hope this post has demonstrated just how simple it is for you to open communications with a willing spirit animal helper. If you decide to continue working with these beings, you’ll find that it is a rewarding and empowering way to shed light on your own subconscious motivations, move through challenges and provide healing for yourself. Many blessings! To start, the fact that I am writing this post on Valentine's Day is inconsequential. But since all flavors of love are celebrated on this day, perhaps it's a little synchronous that after a week of having the idea in my head but no time to get it out, I would have a few hours today to finally sit down and write. This post is simply an account of my spiritual about-face regarding one concept. Your experience and/or belief may be in opposition and that's okay. The concept of twin flames is an old spiritual idea that has been around at least since the days of Plato. He spoke of twin flames in his Symposium. I won't cover it in depth here as there are literally thousands of resources online to do your own poking around, but in a nutshell, it describes the two halves of a human soul, each of which is incarnated (although perhaps at different times) into separate bodies. It is the deepest, soul-felt desire of each half to reunite with its other half. However, it is near-impossible to do so while incarnated (as the theory goes) because the spiritual vibration/frequency of both individuals, when united, cannot sustain itself in the face of human frailties and shortcomings, and within the density of this 3rd dimensional existence. According to the theory, both individuals must do immense amounts of inner spiritual development work to "raise their vibration" and transmute all the dross and impurities accumulated throughout lifetimes. Oftentimes just doing the work of transmuting one's own shit can take lifetimes... sigh. Only when each has reached a certain level of accomplishment is a meeting even possible. Add to this the probability that it is rare indeed that both halves are even incarnated at the same time, and reunion with one's twin flame may seem like a veritable pipe dream, something we can strive for lifetime after lifetime with no guarantee it will ever come our way. And I almost forgot: to attract one's twin, one must practice complete detachment to the desired outcome of reunion. I had an experience over a decade ago that led me to believe I had met my twin. It was fraught with genuine soul-crushing heartbreak for me and was a catalyst for a LOT of spiritual growth. (You can read a summary in this post.) Over time I learned more about the nature of consciousness, spirituality and the human soul. I read voraciously- online and offline- and expanded my understanding quite a bit if I do say so. I read Destiny of Souls and Journey of Souls by Dr. Michael Newton (among many others), both of which vastly increased the depth and breadth of my comprehension of the nature of souls and other spiritual dimensions. I learned about the Akashic Records and with that came even more clarity. It eventually dawned on me that (duh) of course we are complete and whole on our own and the idea that we need some other half of a soul out there somewhere to "complete" us before we can set off on our mission to serve humanity is rather absurd- and extremely disempowering! We can serve our fellow humans any damn time we choose. There is nothing lacking within ourselves and there never has been. We can find love and partnership any time we put our minds and hearts to it. The romantic aspect of the twin flame theory is a beautiful and inspiring one, but please don't let the false thinking that you are somehow incomplete within yourself hold you back from doing what your heart and soul desires, whatever that might look like. I still find a kind of transcendental sweetness in the idea of the twin flame, but it has been tempered with a sweeter knowledge of my own divine nature and wholeness. We are each a complete and unique expression of Divine Source, individuated and here because our souls chose to have human experiences. My 2 cents. What are yours? Shine on 💫❤️, Sara Trust This is a follow-up to last week's post about the beautiful Divine Love Oracle Deck. In this community-created deck there are 40 cards featuring the artwork of 40 different artists. The cards are representative of a broad range of styles and each will speak to you differently.
My contribution to this deck is the Trust card and I'll share here my inspiration for the concept. Often, if not always, when I set out on a new course of inspired action toward a desired goal, I know what I want the end result to be, but I have absolutely no idea of all the steps needed to reach that outcome. I can see the first and sometimes second actions needed, but beyond that it's all misty and unformed. So I take the first action. If possible, I take the second. And as I move forward, the next step is revealed. If I pay attention to how my intuition speaks to me along the way, then every few steps forward reveal the next until I reach my goal. This guidance system is within all of us. It IS us. We just have to learn how to understand the communication when it happens. In the card our inner guidance is represented by the mysterious hand emerging from the fog. Your higher self is this hand! So when you are inspired to expand yourself in alignment with your highest path and purpose, your soul and intuition are naturally on board with that. There is always something you can do right now. Take the first step toward what you want to create. You are being guided. Trust. 💫❤️ *The Indiegogo campaign is almost over and with it the perks! However, with the overwhelming number of choices we have available to us today and the waning of ancestral wisdom in mainstream Western culture, the possibility exists that we may sally forth down a road which presents dis-empowering concepts and inaccuracies. In the spirit of advocating for personal power and responsibility, this post is distilled from comments and feedback from my readers. Thanks to everyone who wrote and commented on my Facebook page!
1) Spiritual growth is all airy-fairy, rainbow-farting unicorns and the like. In other words, it’s all light/positive, no negative/shadow. This couldn’t be further from the truth. To grow as whole beings, to blend the spiritual and the material and all that lofty stuff, we must acknowledge ALL that is within us. We must face the dark parts, the parts where despair and heartbreak exert an iron-like hold. Integrating this part of ourselves is some of the most difficult work we can do, but the rewards are vast. 2) One-size-fits-all. You must meditate, say this affirmation, burn this incense, create a vision board, etc., ad infinitum… to get the result/outcome you want. No. What works for that chill dude over there may or may not work for you. My suggestion would be to examine your intention. Clarify your goal. Customize your spiritual discipline for you and only you. 3) Spirituality isn’t practical. Nope again. The only way spirituality works is for it to be put to practical use. Use that shit everyday. How? Monitor your thoughts and work on eliminating negative thought patterns. When you’re out in the world, remember that everyone you meet is struggling inside with something. Treat them like a human being, even when (especially when!) they fail to treat you as such. Caveat: don’t be a doormat. See? Tricky! 4) Meditating is a must and it takes years to master. Not necessarily. The thing to remember here is to use the method of meditation that you need at this point in your life. This may require some testing of various types of meditation, of which there are many. Have a look at this article for suggestions. 5) Alternative spiritual practices are not “from god” or are “pagan, heathen” yadda yadda. Hmm… well, so what if they’re pagan, heathen, agnostic, Hindu etc? And as for being “from god”, that denotes a Judeo-Christian perspective, which in and of itself is neither good nor bad. It’s just that, a perspective. Like all the other perspectives of the 7-plus billion unique souls here on Earth. If you are developing a connection with your higher self, divine source, creator, god or whatever you choose to call it and you are taking personal responsibility for your creations; if you are practicing loving kindness in your daily life, you’re off to a good start. 6) To be “spiritual” is to eschew financial abundance and ignore/demonize money. Arrgh! There is so much that can be discussed regarding money and spirituality and covering it fully is beyond the scope of this little blog. Remember this: money is a medium of exchange and energetically, it is neutral. It’s what we do with it that gives it a positive or negative charge. This list could go on and on but I must stop here for brevity’s sake. What are your thoughts? What are some misguided ideas you’ve encountered regarding spiritual growth and development? Until next time, Sara The Akashic Records are the collective consciousness. Think of it as an enormous database that holds a record of every choice ever made. The Records can be accessed for healing our past and creating a new reality for ourselves by making new choices. Animals as totems and spirit guides can assist in holding up a mirror to our innermost being, whether they show up as symbols in our lives, dreams, visions or by literally crossing our paths. In this post I’m going to share my own story, exactly a decade after its first activation in my life. Why now? Because it has surfaced again in my consciousness for healing, and now I’m ready to heal it. Perhaps sharing it with you will speed my healing. Perhaps it can help you in some way.
After my daughter was born I got divorced and moved back home to regroup and raise her. I started making jewelry and developing a business. In 2005 I met someone who triggered a reawakening of sorts in me… to put it more accurately- it stirred up a soul-level shitstorm of past life memories of love, loss and astonishing heartbreak. I had never experienced anything of this magnitude and didn’t know what to do with it. I shut down, cried for months, didn’t date or seek out a new relationship for years. This experience became a point of reference in my life. It was the catalyst for accelerated spiritual learning and development that is still happening. I’ve had migraines my entire life and it was through this experience that I learned the root cause of my headaches and was able to heal them (news flash: I was the root cause!). However, I had hidden myself away after this experience because it was so painful, and continued to do so for 10 years! But recently, with help from a mentor, another layer of this soul story surfaced to be healed. It was synchronous with my decision to consciously work with my shadow animal. I learned, through accessing my Akashic record, that I was recreating one of my own past life stories again, involving the person I met ten years ago who was also in that life with me. Meeting him again in this life, followed by his subsequent leaving (which happened in that life too- with his death) triggered the pain and memories for me, which was overwhelmingly confusing, because I didn’t know why the feelings were happening or from where they originated. As a result I followed my soul’s pattern of re-creating what happened in that lifetime, which was: after that loss, I moved back home with my parents and essentially went into hiding. I didn’t allow myself the pleasure of dating and meeting new people. For a very long time, I questioned my self-worth and felt guilty. This was showing up in my sacral chakra as an imbalance and under-activity. What does the sacral chakra deal with? Pleasure, creativity, feelings/the right to feel, manifesting at the physical level, one-on-one relationships/sex, money. So now, the time has come for me to create something new for myself. I can do this now because I see how I’ve created everything in my experience, in this life and in all the others. Once we are consciously aware of our choices, it becomes easier to make better ones. How does shadow animal work fit into this? When I became aware of the roots of this big story of mine and made the decision to heal, it was obvious that it qualified as shadow work. I didn’t know what my creature was so I meditated and asked it to come forward. It was a scorpion. What chakra does the zodiac sign of Scorpio rule? You guessed it- the sacral. The scorpion is teaching me to come out of the shell I’ve built and to be vulnerable- less defensive. It’s teaching me how to re-balance that sacral chakra energy, allow myself pleasure, re-discover my passions and to quit feeling guilty. Consciously doing these things for myself helps to heal that old, old story. I don’t feel as if I’ve completed this work yet, but it’s been a huge breakthrough, and as we accept and integrate the medicine of our shadow animal, it can become our greatest ally. Two other things I discovered which really brings this home for me: the person from this soul story is a Scorpio, and my shadow teacher in the Tarot is the Death card, which is another Scorpio association and the card of transformation. Do you have a soul story you need to heal but feel like you’re running up against a brick wall? A Soul Realignment(R) Akashic Records session can break down those walls. Ready to work with your shadow and bring it into the light? I can help illuminate that for you with a Shadow Totem mini reading. Contact me here for more information. I think this is valuable to be mindful of no matter what your totem animal is. That being said, we do have more than one totem animal. Like other types of guides, they come and go. Some are with us from birth to death, others pop in to help with a specific challenge or path we choose, others still will walk at our sides for a period of time to guide us, and then there are the shadow totems: perhaps the most potent, these creatures are the ones we may fear or loathe: they will reveal our fears, insecurities, anxieties. But if we can embrace them and what they teach, we integrate our own shadow and that's where our real power lies. What's your power animal? Comment below! It has perhaps been with humans longer than any other gemstone. It crystallizes in masses, stalactites, veins, crusts, and rarely, short, small and brilliantly colored prismatic crystals. (1) It has a hardness on the Mohs scale of 5-7. The name turquoise originates from the 16th century Old French word for "Turkish" because the stone was first brought to Europe from Turkey. For thousands for years turquoise has been prized by cultures across the globe, from North America to Egypt to Tibet. It is considered a sacred stone by Tibetan shamans and Native Americans and both these peoples also understood it to have protective properties. It primarily stimulates the throat chakra, however it is capable of aligning all chakras, meridians and subtle bodies. Turquoise is an excellent choice to use and/or wear during any and all spiritual work. It can attune one to the spiritual plane while assisting with grounding simultaneously. It is a healer of the spirit and can bring peace of mind. Another use for turquoise which I was previously unaware is that of promoting spontaneity in romance and to stimulate the initiation of romantic love along with attuning you to your lover, even telepathically... le sigh :). (1) On that note, I'll wrap up this post and wish you the best on your own explorations with stones. Take some time to work with turquoise; it's pretty amazing. Next month: labradorite 💖
